Shelton Captures Qualifying Spot

Mike Shelton, 56 of Belton, MO fired a 3-under par 69 to lead all qualifiers and earn the only qualifiying spot for the USGA Senior Amateur.  Shelton's round included six birdies and heading into the 418 yard par 4 No. 17 he was 5-under par.  Rich Gleghorn, 56 of Springfield and Randy Apgar, 56 of Kansas City both shot even par 72  .....more plus results>>

Rickert Crushes Field

Al Rickert of Overland Park ran away with the low honors at the StateLine Amateur Tour event at Milburn Golf & Country Club today.  Rickert used four birdies on the back nine in route to his 4-under par 68 performance.  Other event winners include; Andy Smith, James Isleib, David Kirschbaum, Ritch Nigh, Ron Brewer, and Marty Story.   ...more plus results

Nurski Medalist at Mid Am Qualifying

Brad Nurski of St. Joseph, MO shot a 3-under par 67 to lead all competitors at sectional qualifying for the U.S. Mid Amateur Championship at Mission Hills Country Club.  Also qualifying were Brian Haskell of St. Joseph, MO and Tyler Shelton of Fairway, KS.  Both Haskell and Shelton shot even par 70.  Pete Krsnich of Prairie Village and Mid Am qualifier in 2008 fell short of qualifying, but secured the first alternate position with a 72.  Doug Albers of Prairie Village shot 73 and secured the second alternate position over three others when they declined the opportunity to play-off for the position.  The qualifiers will compete in the national championship September 6-11 at Milwaukee Country Club in River Hills, WI.   ...complete results

Champions Crowned at The Heart

Seward adds Heart Title with Addington

Jim Seward won his second Heart of America Four-Ball Senior title, but this one with a new partner Mark Addington.  Addington and Seward defeated the team of Karl Elbrecht and Tim Boyd in the finals 3 and 2.  In the Semifinals Elbrecht and Boyd, the 3 seed defeated the 20 seed of Bob Bezek and Mitch Bowen 5 and 4.  In the other semi final Addington and Seward defeated the senior team of Ron Eilers and Dave Harris 3 and 1.

Smell and Schulte Win Heart

Jason Schulte, 20 of Kansas City, and Kyle Smell, 19 of Overland Park won the 2008 Heart of America Four-Ball 1 up over Brad Boan and Zac Potter.  It was the Cats versus the Shockers in the all college player final.  Schulte and Smell are both team mates at K-State have been playing the championship, finished runner-up in 2006, but never had won the championship.  Boan and Potter also teammates but for Wichita State.  In the 36-hole final the teams combined for over 20 birdies.  “It was unreal,” stated Smell, “at one point in the match you knew that if you didn’t make birdie you would lose the hole.”  Sure enough it was a birdie feast and over the course of five holes that made the difference.  Smell and Schulte took turns making birdies on the second eighteen over a 6 hole spread, which proved to be the difference.   ...click here for results

Smith Wins at Swope Memorial

Once the fog lifted early this morning at Swope Memorial Golf Course so did Andy Smith's play.  Despite being delayed 30 minutes off of the first tee, Smith a Gladstone native, won his first StateLine Amateur Tour event of the season while shooting a 2-under par 70 in which he was aided by four birdies on the front nine.  Other event winners include; Drew Carlson, Charlie Tholl, Steve Hammond, James Isleib, Dale Hotop, Pat Goeke, Grant Renne, Al Neal, Tim Jackson, and Duke Duggan.   ...more plus results

Lethem Qualifies for Second USGA Championship

Drew Lethem, 22 of Camdenton, Mo qualified for his second straight USGA Championship by shooting back to back 69's and qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship.  Earlier this year Lethem qualfied for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.  Also qualifying was ....more plus results

Kuehn Winner at Falcon Lakes

Don Kuehn of Kansas City shot the low score of the day to win the StateLine Amateur Tour event at Falcon Lakes Golf Course.  Kuehn used four birdies in route to his 4-under par 68 performance.  Other event winners include; Sam Klos, Steve Hammond, Jim Lodes and Ron Brewer.   ...more plus results

Yonke and Bachelor Claim Amateur Crowns

Standing on the 15th Kyle Yonke found himself behind in the championship for the first time. Yonke who began the round 9-under with a 4 shot lead made a triple on hole 2 and then after a double bogey on the 188 yard par 3 No. 14 Doug Albers had taken a one shot lead. In the Senior Open Division Tom Bachelor and Mark Crow tied with a 54 hole total of 217. In the play-off Bachelor hit his approach shot on the 513 yard par 5 No. 1 to within 2 feet of the hole for a birdie and victory.  Other winners included David Kirschbaum, Rictch Nigh, Don Cox and Leroy Rottinghaus.   ....complete wrap up plus scores
