Championship Regulations

 

Format

36 holes Four-ball stroke play qualifying. The low 32 Open and 16 Senior teams qualify for single elimination match play. If there is a tie for the final match play seeds, the seeds shall be determined by a sudden death playoff.

Eligibility

Open to any male amateur (including non-KCGA members) with an active USGA Handicap Index. An Open team’s combined USGA Handicap Indexes must be 10.0 or less. A Senior team’s combined USGA Handicap Indexes must be 14.0 or less. Both Senior players must be at least 50 years old by August 6, 2008.

Field

Open Division - 60 teams maximum
If more than 60 teams enter, all non-exempt teams whose entry number is 45 higher will be required to pre-qualify on Monday, August 6th.

Senior Division - 36 teams maximum

If more than 36 teams enter, all non-exempt teams whose entry number is 25 or higher will be required to pre-qualify on Monday, August 6.

Exemptions

Teams meeting at least one of the following exemptions are exempt from pre-qualifying and guarnteed a position in the field if they execute a proper entry on or before the entry deadline.

1 - Previous winners (must be the same team)

2 - 2007 match play qualifier (must be the same team)

3 - USGA or state champion (won in the past 15 years)

4 - Special exemption (at the discretion of the Committee)

Entry Fee - $395

Entry fee includes: green fees, practice range, and lunch each day of stroke play.

Prizes

The stroke play medalists each receive a medal. The champions of each receive symbolic trophies. In addition, the KCGA provides a significant prize pool to be distributed to all teams who qualify for match play.

Practice Privileges

Monday, August 4 is the official practice round for this championship. Access to the course for other practice rounds is subject to the course’s regular guest policy.

Withdrawals

If a team must withdraw from the event, they must notify the KCGA office immediately. After notifying the KCGA, the team will be required to send a formal withdrawal notification by email, fax, or mail.

Refunds

If a team properly withdraws prior to the close of entries, upon proper written request the players will receive a full refund of the entry fee minus a $20 administrative fee. If a team withdraws after the entries close and more than 48 hours prior to the start of the event, upon proper written request the team will receive a refund of 50% of the entry fee. There are no refunds if a team withdraws less than 48 hours prior to the start of an event. Exceptions may be made for sickness or extenuating circumstances, after review of proper written request.

Starting Times & Player Information

Starting times and player information are available and posted to the KCGA website (www.kansascitygolfer.org) no later than 10:00 a.m., the day following the entry deadline. Players without internet access may call the KCGA. Starting times and player information are not mailed.

Rules of Golf & Conditions of Competition

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, and by the KCGA Local Rules and Conditions of Competition as approved by the KCGA Rules and Competitions Committee. Questions shall be settled by the Committee, whose decision shall be final.

Personal Appearance & Conduct

Proper golf attire is required. Jeans, t-shirts, and tank tops are prohibited. Shorts must be mid-thigh. Golf shirts must have a traditional or mock collar and must be tucked in. This dress code will be used in conjunction with any additional dress code used by the host club. Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct, including the use of obscene or abusive language, may be cause for disqualification.
