Tom Bachelor of Olathe made an
early season push in the Bushnell Player Standings with a first
place finish in the Senior Open Division. Bachelor was able to
fight off high wind gusts and the thick rough at The Country Club at
Loch Lloyd. Earlier in the
day, Thomas Leonard was 1 under on the back nine for a 3 over par
73. Leonard's 73 looked like it would hold for first until
Bachelor, the last Senior Open Division player into the clubhouse,
turned in his 72.
In the Open Division, two familiar
names to the StateLine Amateur Tour finished atop the leaderboard, Aaron Stevens and Jon Platz
fired 3 over par 73's to tie for first place. Luke Johnson was
a stroke behind the leaders with a 74. Both Jason Grimsley and
Craig Johnston eagled the par 5, 523 yard par 5 eighth hole.
Tour newcomer Pat Goeke of Paola
continued his strong play this season with a first place finish in
the Players Division gross scoring with a 79 and a runner up finish
in net scoring for the second straight event with a 71. Tim
Martley and Rich Wills tied for second to Goeke with 80's. In
Players Division net scoring Dan Miller of Stilwell shot an eye opening 3 under
par 67 for top honors.
In Legends Division gross
scoring, Jim Lodes of Lenexa was able to fend off Tim Jackson and
Ron Brewer by a stroke with his 79. In net scoring Bob Schulze
of Overland Park and Dick Sauer of Blue Springs shared first place
with net 74's.
